066 Under The Skin
Situation
Facial suture closed with continuous subcuticular suture.
Background
A man sustained a straight, clean laceration over his zygoma.
Assessment
The wound was cleaned, absorbable sutures placed in the deep dermis to
bring the wound together and obliterate the deep pocket. After that
absorbable sutures placed in a continuous subcuticular fashion with
excellent results.
Recommendation
Continuous subcuticular suture can be used on clean straight wounds <
6cm, not under tension. They give excellent cosmetic results. This can
be considered in appropriate cases.
